NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson gives you his three seniors that the Oregon Ducks basketball team will most in 2013-2014. With all the praise and accolades that can be given to the Ducks basketball program, they will be without some of their best players in the coming years, as E.J. Singler, Arsalan Kazemi, Carlos Emory, and Tony Woods played their final season in 2012-2013. Catalysts part of Oregon’s run to the Sweet 16, the Ducks will surely miss the services of each and every one of them. And while all have their own special talents, fans of the Ducks will miss three of these guys the most.

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about the recent documents that were released that show the Oregon Ducks and NCAA have agreed that the Ducks committed major violations during Chip Kelly’s tenure. While I would never want a football program that I support to be involved in any sort of scandal, everything that Oregon has stated–as well as the NCAA–points to the fact that Oregon’s coaches were unaware that they were committing violations.

Picked to finish seventh in the Pac-12 by the Pac-12 Media Poll, the Ducks outplayed their competition throughout the year en route to their first Pac-12 Tournament Championship since 2008. Though they eventually lost to Louisville in the Sweet 16 of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, the Ducks upset both Oklahoma State and St. Louis while putting the program back on the college basketball map.

NWSB Insider Bryant Knoxs shares his five best memories of his favorite Northwest athlete, De’Anthony Thomas. The Black Mamba may be more of a sixth man in Oregon’s offense than a consistent starter, but that hasn’t stopped him from making highlight-worthy plays week after week. He’s become one of the fastest, most exciting players in the country, and that was evident in showings such as the 2013 Fiesta Bowl, the 2012 Rose Bowl and his 2011 showing against the USC Trojans.

This was a very respectable effort from Dana Altman’s Ducks, and it was the first time in the head coach’s career that he made it past the second round. As long as Altman is the man in Eugene, this will be a team near the top for years to come—especially with freshman guards Dominic Artis and Damyean Dotson set to return.

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson previews Oregon’s NCAA tournament game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys that is slated for a 1:40pm tip. The Ducks are still dancing this year and will have a great shot to play the spoiler to Oklahoma State and prove to the nation that they deserved to be much higher than a 12-seed. The last time these two teams met on the court, Oregon took care of business and beat the Cowboys by 13 on December 28, 1987.
