3rd and long….BCLions 2013 recap

Andrew Harris has entered "Superstar" status. (Darryl Dyck/Canadian Press)

NWSB Insider and BC Lions Blogger Steve Lee gives us three major points to consider while recapping the 2013 CFL season. The emergence of Andrew Harris launched him into “superstar” status. Solomon Elimimian, Adam Bighill, Keron Williams and Anton McKenzie provided leadership for Rich Stubler’s defensive strategies. But among the good come the questions that must be answered this offseason.

Durant puts the nail in 2013 B.C. Lions coffin

BC vs. Sask

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Ben Lypka recaps the Lions’ last contest against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. To recap. The Roughriders ran roughshod over the Lions D for the entire second half and the Lions made Darian Durant look like Mike Vick circa 2004. For as good a game as the Lions Andrew Harris and Stefan Logan had on the ground – Durant was better. It’s back to the drawing board for the Lions after a peculiar and ultimately disappointing season.

Calgary Stampeders vs. BC Lions: Week 18 game balls

The defense, as usual, was strong

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Ben Lypka recaps the Lions’ last contest against the Calgary Stampeders. Giving game balls to Paul McCallum, Adam Bighill, and Andrew Harris. It’s only fitting that the Lions best defensive player all year was a force again in the final game of the season. Bighill had three tackles and a sack

Edmonton Eskimos vs. B.C. Lions: Week 17 game balls

Buck Pierce, Rennie Curran

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Ben Lypka recaps the Lions’ last contest against the Edmonton Eskimos . Giving game balls to Buck Pierce, JR Larose and Stefan Logan. Lypka goes on to say not only did Logan have a good game on offense, he also was a beast on the return game. He averaged over 20 yards on kick returns and close to 10 yards on punt returns and those yards were sorely needed by the Lions – especially in the first half.

Memo to the BC Lions…What the Buck?

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Ben Lypka asks why today. Why is Buck Pierce NOT playing in place of the injured Travis Lulay? Keep in mind that Pierce is less than two years removed from a solid season in which he helped the Winnipeg Blue Bombers win games playing pretty ugly football. The Bombers made it to the Grey Cup in 2011 and a lot of that was due to the impact Pierce had on that team.

BC Lions vs. Calgary Stampeders: Week 15 game balls

Nick Moore

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Ben Lypka recaps the Lions’ last contest against the Calgary Stampeders. Giving game balls to Nick Moore, Cord Parks and Tim Brown. Honourable mentions to Adam Bighill, Dante Marsh and Korey Banks on defense. Next up for the Lions is another trip to Regina, but this time it could be with Travis Lulay at the helm.

Simon back under the Dome as Saskatchewan invades BC Place

Geroy Simon

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Phil “The Bartender” Slater brings us his weekly Lions matchup preview. This week BC takes on the RoughRiders in Van City. Welcome back Geroy Simon. The long-time Leo, BC community activist, and the greatest receiver in the history of the CFL returns to Vancouver tonight. When Geroy Simon was dealt in the off-season, BC Lions fans and players alike circled the calendar when Saskatchewan would return to BC Place.

BC stakes its claim to a playoff spot

Adam Bighill

NWSB Insider and BC Lions blogger Phil The Bartender Slater weighs in with his Week 12 CFL review for the BC Lions vs. Winnipeg Blue-Bombers in Winterpeg. Phil says the Lions did what they had to do, go into enemy territory and lay a beat down on a weaker opponent. With the “W” BC secured a spot in the post season party standing all alone in second place.

Bighill grabs CFL honours…yet again.

Adam-Bighill-spotlight

Big Play Bighill Adam Bighill the BC Lions all world linebacker has won the CFL defensive player of the week for the second time in three weeks. Congrats Adam! From BC Lions.com — Bighill’s 30-yard fumble return for a TD on the game’s first play from scrimmage was one of three defensive scores for the […]

BC descends on Winnipeg, looking to win back to back road games

Dante Marsh

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Phil “The Bartender” Slater brings us his weekly Lions matchup preview. This week BC takes on Winnipeg on the road YET again. Phil points out the BC secondary, led by Dante Marsh should just be poised and keep everything in front of them. Which is how they succeeded against the Riders. Last week Winnipeg gave up over 20 consecutive points before falling to Edmonton in overtime. No doubt they’ll be licking their wounds.

B.C. Lions vs: Saskatchewan Roughriders Week 13 game balls

DeMarco was fine. Travis Lulay should sit back and take as long as he needs

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Ben Lypka recaps the Lions’ last contest against the Roughriders. Giving game balls to Dante Marsh, Paul McCallum, and Thomas Demarco. Ben loved the Lions’ latest victory. Other noteables on D. Adam Bighill was a presence as usual and Cord Parks was solid in the secondary. And on ST’s. Tim Brown was also strong for the entire game, averaging 20 yards per kickoff return and almost 10 yards per punt.
