*NHL ATS Matchup Report*

While the Canucks have been playing superb hockey, the Senators have fallen back to earth a bit and are simply average at this point in time.

Both teams went to extra time on Thursday night with Vancouver posting an impressive come-from-behind shootout win in Montreal and the Senators dropping an overtime decision to New Jersey.

Vancouver is Hot – they are currently on a three game win streak, they have won eight of their last nine games and have recorded victories in their last four road games. The offense has been scorching recording three or more goals in eight straight games.

Jannik Hansen has 4 goals and 1 assist during a four-game points streak and Henrik Sedin has 7 assists during his own four-game points streak and Daniel has 9 points including a hat trick on Tuesday during his current five-game point streak.

Against Ottawa Henrik Sedin has totaled four goals and nine assists in his last 10 games while Daniel has four goals and eight assists in his last 11.

Chris Higgins has a goal in four straight games against the Senators and Ryan Kesler has three goals and three assists during a four-game point streak in the series.

Roberto Luongo shrugged off a puck to the neck in Tuesday’s game and made a surprise start in Montreal posting the win. He has posted a 1.98 goals-against average while winning seven consecutive matchups against Ottawa making him a good bet to get the start again Saturday night.

Canucks vs. Senators

Vancouver Canucks vs. Ottawa Senators Odds & Handicapping Preview

The Ottawa Senators have been just OK in their last 10 games posting a 4-3-3 record over that span. The Senators boast the top scorer in the NHL – Milan Michalek has come out of nowhere and now has 18 goals on the season – six goals in his last six games.

Daniel Alfredsson has two goals and five assists in his last six games and Jason Spezza has played very well against the Canucks in recent meetings – three goals and two assists in his last five games.

Defensively, the Senators have been a mess this season and own the worst overall defense in the league. Craig Anderson will likely start in goal on Saturday and may have to deal with the loss of perhaps Ottawa’s best defenseman Sergei Gonchar who could miss the game with an upper body injury.

Anderson is 12-9-2 this season with an unflattering 3.39 goals against average and an equally poor .897 save percentage.

Dave’s Free Canucks Betting Predictions

Vancouver is the second highest scoring team in the league at 3.3 goals per game while Ottawa has the worst defense in the league allowing 3.5 goals per game. Vancouver has won eight of the last nine games between the two clubs.

Vancouver is clearly the better of the two teams heading into Saturday’s showdown and they are the hotter of the two clubs. This smells like a Canucks letdown game – it almost happened on Thursday night before a furious comeback resulted in the win.

That said, it is pretty tough to bet against the Canucks right now especially against a team that they have absolutely owned the last couple of seasons.

Vancouver wins its fifth straight on the road Saturday in a high scoring affair.

Pick: Vancouver Canucks -145 and the Over – 5.5 goals
