Big home opening win for Van City

Vancouver’s 22 shots in the opening period matched its total from the season opener at San Jose.

Daniel Sedin and defenseman Jason Garrison each had a goal and an assist to lift Vancouver in its home opener and give coach John Tortorella his first win with the club.

Roberto Luongo made 21 saves and captain Henrik Sedin collected three assists as the Canucks improved to 5-0-1 in their last six home games against Edmonton.
