Recognized for leading the NHL scoring race last month, Sedin twin/Captain Vancouver Canuck Henrik received the NHL Third Star for his two goals and 22 assists in 15 games during December.
Scoring one and assisting on all three of bro-ging Daniel’s goals in a 6-0 Colorado slaying, along with two assists in both December wins against the Wild (4-0) and Ducks (5-2), Hank is entering 2012 with the most points in the league (46).
Hank was the scoring champion in the ’09-10 season and is likely up for his second Art Ross trophy if he keeps up the good work – or breaks some of his own records.
He currently holds:
- Vancouver Canucks franchise record for all time assists (509 as of last season, over Linden’s 415)
- Record for most assists in one season (83)
- Record for most points in one season (112)
December’s NHL First Star was given to Pittsburg Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin for recording the seventh hat trick of his career and 19 points within nine games.
My good old hometown Markham boy Steve Stamkos of Tampa Bay Lightning got the Second Star for his impressive 10 goals and seven assists in 13 games – sitting at number one in the league with 26 goals.
He’s the only NHL player to score at least 40 goals in the past three years.
