Calgary Flames vs. Canucks: The flame game

Love Em/Hate Em

Boxscore | Recap

It’s weird, for half this game the Canucks weren’t on the score board, down by a goal after one. The Canucks were pressuring but Leland Irving was holding strong in Calgary’s net.

Then Alex Burrows jammed the puck home at the side of the net to tie the game, followed quickly by Jordan Schroeder‘s first career goal to put the Canucks up for good.

Love ‘Em

1. Jordan Schredder

With Ryan Kesler soon to return, it looks like we can start making Canucks line-ups that feature both Kesler and Jordan Schroeder. The kid has looked good and he’s earned AV’s trust, getting time on the first powerplay unit with the Sedins.

Schroeder has been battling for pucks with tenacity, which goes a long way towards overcoming his size. His work ethic off the puck will be what keeps him in this league.

2. Mr. Higgins

After a horrible start to the season, Chris Higgins now has goals in two straight games and points in three straight.

It’s just another example of how dangerous the Canucks can be when all elements are hot.

3. Bobby Lu on After Hours

Roberto Luongo was the guest on after hours and once again displayed what has to be the most based attitude in the NHL. It’s really amazing how he’s seemingly been on a spiritual journey that resulted in him being re-born as the zen strombone (except Scott Oake still doesn’t know that…).

Who else would open up about his bowel movements on national tv in the midst of being on the trade block?

Gonna miss you buddy. Also, you should start tweeting from the bench.

Hate ‘Em

1. Tough Line-up Decisions

The thing about David Booth and Ryan Kesler coming back is that it creates some really tough questions.

Who comes out of the line-up? Who sees their ice-time cut significantly?

I’ve missed you, #1stplaceproblems.

2. Poor Macy

Mason Raymond took a puck to the face in the first period that spilled so much it looked like a pretty bird.

You really hate to see anyone get hit in the face, especially someone who has the physical structure of Taylor Swift.

Poor lil guy.

3. A Fallow Period

Right as the Canucks are hot, they have a lot of time off.

They don’t play again until Tuesday against Minnesota and after that next is Friday against Dallas.

As Van Halen once said, you miss the beat, you lose the rhythm.
