Now the Anaheim Ducks stand in the way of the Canucks and first overall in the NHL standings. The two teams will go toe-to-toe Tuesday night as the Ducks try to end a mini-skid and the Canucks try to extend that six game win streak.

The Anaheim Ducks have three games remaining on what has been a very disappointing season. With three games left to go and a playoff position out of their reach, the Ducks will try to humble a Vancouver team that they have fared very well against the last couple of seasons. However, Anaheim has gone 4-5-1 in their last 10 games and enter Tuesday’s contest having lost two straight games.

Anaheim enters Tuesday’s game with little to play for except for pride. The team has underachieved offensively all season ranking a head-scratching 24th in goals for.

With names like Ryan Getzlaf, Corry Perry, Bobby Ryan and Teemu Selanne there is absolutely no excuse.

Teemu Selanne is the only Duck that seems to be playing well at the moment – three points in four games. Perry and Ryan have struggled and Ryan Getzlaf is pointless in his last three games.

Goaltending has been OK for Anaheim this season. They are middle of the pack in goals against and Jonas Hiller is 1-1-0 with a 1.51 goals against average in his last two games.

The Vancouver Canucks appear to have turned the corner and are looking like a team to contend with in the Western Conference.

Six straight wins are impressive but maybe more important is the intensity with which the team is playing with at present. The best players are heating up and the secondary scoring continues to impress.

After a rather unflattering stretch a few weeks ago, Vancouver’s offense is finally rounding into form despite the absence of Daniel Sedin. Henrik Sedin has five points in two games, Maxim Lapierre has found another level and has four points in two games and Alex Burrows has woken up with two points in his last two games.

The defense is chipping in as well – three Canuck rearguards have two points in their last two games.

By far the most impressive part of Vancouver’s game lately has been the goaltending. Both Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider are 2-0-0 in their last two starts – Lou has a 0.97 goals against average in those starts and Schneider has a 1.00 goals against average during his streak.

Either way, Vancouver can’t go wrong.

Too Much for Teemu et al

Anaheim is a surprising 12-5 in their last 17 trips to Vancouver and they have won two of three meetings so far this season. But Vancouver is hot and still very motivated to finish on top of the Western Conference and perhaps the NHL overall standings.

With the goaltending on fire and the offense heating up, the Canucks look to be too much for the Ducks on Tuesday night.

Pick: Vancouver Canucks -202
