*NHL ATS Matchup Report*

The Canucks have gone 14-3-2 over their last 19 contests – 8-3-1 on the road and have climbed to the top of the NHL standings in the process.

They have averaged 4.3 goals in the wins during their impressive streak – tough to beat.

The Canucks opponent Sunday – the Anaheim Ducks who have broken out of an ugly 3-9-2 steak and have gone 4-0-1 in their last five games – averaging an impressive 5.25 goals per game in their last four.

Impressive until you look at their recent competition – the Islanders, Blue Jackets, Stars and Oilers.

The Ducks are a talented team but the offense is still 21st in the NHL. Ryan Getzlaf had been brutal before recording four assists against Edmonton in the Ducks last game.

Corey Perry has five goals in the last four games and has 20 points – seven goals in 24 career games against Vancouver.

He, Teemu Selanne and Sakku Koivu are playing their best hockey of the season.

Jonas Hiller will likely draw the start – he is 2-2-1 with a 3.83 GAA in his last five starts against the Canucks.

One thing that the Vancouver Canucks have showed lately is that they can win without the Sedins carrying the load – the secondary scoring showed up and took some of the offensive onus.

The brothers Sedin have been OK lately – Henrik Sedin has six points in his last five games and Daniel Sedin isn’t far behind.

The Sedins do love to play against Anaheim – Daniel has a 12-game points streak (10 goals, 12 assists) against the Ducks and Henrik is just under a point-per game over that span.

Expect to see Roberto Luongo in goal on Sunday – he is unflattering 2-4-2 with a 4.65 goals-against average in his last eight games against the Ducks.

But Luongo has been playing great – allowing two or fewer goals in a season-high four consecutive starts.

Dave’s Free Canucks Betting Predictions

Anaheim is 2-8 in their last 10 games following a win but is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings in Vancouver. Vancouver is 22-7 in their last 29 vs. Pacific and 19-7 in their last 26 overall.

Anaheim is playing their best hockey of the season – this could look on the surface like a “trap-game” for the Canucks. But consider who Anaheim has beaten – the Islanders, Blue Jackets, Stars and Oilers.

Don’t believe the optimism. Vancouver is on fire – I can’t see them being denied in front of their hockey-starved home crowd.

Pick: Vancouver Canucks -216 and if you don’t like those odds, take a shot at the over – 5 ½ goals for this game.
