NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks Blogger Jonas Hyde gives us insight as to what kind of person Richard Sherman can be off the field. Saturday, July 6, 2013 is the official launch of Blanket Coverage, The Richard Sherman Family Foundation. Russell Wilson, Golden Tate, Larry Fitzgerald and Terrell Owens will all be in attendance.
NWSB Insider Jonas Hyde brings us a piece on the emergence of former Husky Jake Locker. With the Washington native taking over the reigns for the Titans officially last year, this will be the first year that the team has been built for him specifically. Taking a page out of Pete Carroll’s, the Titans have themselves set up to make a splash in the AFC with young Locker behind center.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners Blogger Jonas Hyde gives us a preview of the M’s month of July. During the month the team has a few questions to answer. Can they can get trade value in Hisashi Iwakuma? Are they looking to keep Kendrys Morales and Michael Morse beyond this year? A 13-10 record is projected.
Seattle Seahawks blogger Jones Hyde weighs in today on the news about GM John Schneider and his contract extension. Jonas goes on to say Pete Carroll will be next to hit a payday. With Carroll’s original 5-year deal running through 2014, it is a given that an extension will be done within the year to keep the tandem together. After the extension is done, the real work will only just be starting. Richard Sherman & Russell Wilson are nice picks by the way.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners Blogger Jonas Hyde asks the question we have all been wondering this season; who is the real ace of the Mariners staff? Jonas breaks down just about every category you can think of, trying to get the statistical answer. It seems to be a tie, but the answer Jonas gives for his answer just might sway even the most hardcore baseball fan. Felix Hernandez vs. Hisashi Iwakuma. Help decide. Leave a comment today.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners Blogger Jonas Hyde tells us why he doesn’t think a single one of us should write of the Mariners just yet. Even with an unstable rotation, and a lack of run scoring ability, these boys have some fight left in them. Plus, with all of the roster moves over the past month and a half, Jonas thinks the right players are finally in the right place. For starters Mike Zunino has replaced Jesus Montero, and will offer better defense and likely more at the plate.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners Blogger Jonas Hyde tells us why the return from the DL by Justin Smoak is a good thing for the Mariners. Gone are the days when Smoak was relied upon to carry this team offensively. Just look at the support he has had this season in Raul Ibanez, Kendrys Morales and Kyle Seager. Plus the demotions of Dustin Ackley and Jesus Montero have brought a couple more of the new wave up; Nick Franklin and Mike Zunino. And with the numbers of the latter, Smoak can focus more on playing 1B instead of trying to win every game with his bat.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Sonics Blogger Jonas Hyde tells us to have patience, the Sonics will return to the NBA. It may not be for a couple years, but with the plan that Chris Hansen cemented with the city, it seems that he didn’t expect immediate results either. But, with the outgoing David Stern, the NBA will be in the hands of Adam Silver, who has said himself he wants the NBA to return to Seattle. So don’t hold your breath as Jonas says, we will see our Sonics back again in the very near future.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks Blogger Jonas Hyde recaps Pete Carroll’s most recent press conference in a new NWSB series, Coach Speak. Pete Carroll was a little more ambiguous at times during this press conference, but did offer some tidbits of good information. The latter stages of the conference was dedicated to talking about the wide receivers and Percy Harvin, something fans should pay attention to in the future.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks’ blogger Jonas Hyde gives you his two cents on how he thinks the Seahawks will do in the upcoming year. Airing on the side of caution and attempting to bring Seattle fans down from the clouds, Jonas points out the parody in the NFL and how things never go as expected, predicting that the Seahawks will struggle in 2013 and go a mediocre 7-9. Let’s just hope, as he mentions, his predictions are wrong.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners’ blogger Jonas Hyde asks what do the M’s have to do with rookie pitcher Brandon Maurer. Perhaps Andrew Carraway can show a little something. While Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma hold down the top end as two aces should, and Joe Saunders and Aaron Harang at least offer some promise. News broke. Maurer has been sent down. Alex Liddi is on his way up.
