B.C. Lions Vs. Montreal Alouettes: What went wrong?

Arland Bruce

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Bryan McFarlane recaps the Lions’ last contest against the Alouettes. Bryan asks what went wrong? The Lions’ defense is one of the league’s stingiest, particularly in the secondary, and although the unit forced a boatload of turnovers, the yards just continued to rack up against them. B.C. allowed an uncharacteristic 464 yards of offense on Thursday, far higher than their typical numbers. Ex-Lion Arland Bruce III had himself a great game.

With 6 games down and 12 to go, here’s how B.C. stacks up

Travis Lulay

NWSB Insider and BC Lions blogger Bryan McFarlane weighs in today with a post giving the Leo’s some grades for the first third of their 2013 season. He points out the key to the home stretch of this year for B.C. will be winning the season series versus Calgary, and then of course finishing business the way they couldn’t last November. Andrew Harris has been the offense’s rock and much needed spark thus far in the year. On D there is a lack of pressure generated up front.

Bryan says it wasn’t pretty, but the boys came together and got the job done in front of the home town fans. Next up is the tough Calgary Stampeders on the 17th. Go Lions! Special nod. Tim Brown. If you watched this game you know why I can’t name anyone else the special teams player of the game.

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions’ blogger Bryan McFarlane talks about Andrew Harris’ resurgence in the Lions’ week two contest against the Toronto Argonauts. After seeing himself doled out limited carries during the preseason and week one, the offense finally gave Harris the ball and he shined. Showcasing his ability to run the ball down the field as well as catch it at times, Harris rushed over the century mark while compiling 49 yards in the air to help pace the Lions.

Week 1 Flashback: Lions vs. Stamps what went wrong?

jon-cornish-calgary-stampeders.jpg

NWSB Insider and BC Lions’ blogger Bryan McFarlane addresses the pros and cons from the BC Lions’ 1st regular season game against the Calgary Stampeders. Jon Cornish ran at, through, around and over the Lions en route to 172 yards on the day for the Stamps. One thing is for sure, the defense needs to tighten up if the Lions want to get on the winning side of a football game. Sure the Stampeders are the reigning Western Division champs, but…

B.C. Lions preseason game #2: What we learned

The Lions will be looking for their second straight win against the Eskimos on Saturday. (Darryl Dyck/The Canadian Press)

NWSB Insider and BC Lions’ blogger Bryan McFarlane addresses the pros and cons from the BC Lions’ second preseason game. Virtually every fan simultaneously loves and hates preseason games in every sport. There are pros and cons to exhibition matches, more cons than pros depending on the specific league. The CFL is one of the better, if not the best, leagues when it comes to getting what’s necessary out of these meaningless games and moving quickly into the real season.

The three most important games of the BC Lions 2013 campaign

BC Lions

NWSB Insider and B.C. Lions blogger Bryan McFarlane brings us his 3 must see games for this season. The defending Grey Cup champs, the Toronto Argonauts, will be taking on the Lions in a battle of the last 2 league champions. Then the Riders come to town with new addition and Lions favorite Geroy SImon in tow. Then the Stampeders come to town in what is sure to be a battle for the west. I hope Travis Lulay brings his A games.
