NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners Blogger Brian Scott gives us a look at the financial situation facing the team in the upcoming MLB season. Notable names with big money deals that have ended would include Kendrys Morales, Raul Ibanez, Chone Figgins, and Franklin Gutierrez. The only two guys we know for sure will be on the roster in 2014 are Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Portland’s latest victory on the road and gives you some things to love and hate from the contest. Cleaning up the Milwaukee Bucks for their eighth straight win, the Blazers completed a road sweep while showing the nation they have what it takes to get the job done. They now head home for a huge matchup against the Chicago Bulls.
NWSB Editor Bryant Knox gives us a look at who might be considered the X-factor for the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2013-14 NBA season. Needless to say, Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge are out, as they’re hands down the stars of the team. That brings Wesley Matthews, Thomas Robinson, Robin Lopez and CJ McCollum into the conversation. You might be surprised at who earns the nod…
NWSB Insider and Vancouver Canucks blogger Ben Lypka breaks down the Florida Panthers win over the Canucks on Tuesday night. Ben calls out Alex Edler, Ryan Kesler, Zach Kassian, and the brothers Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin. As Ben put it, Roberto Luongo was really the only player on Vancouver that brought his working boots on a night when the Canucks played one period it’s easy to lay the blame.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks Blogger Brian Scott brings us three things that will help the team from the Pacific Northwest reach the Super Bowl and win its first Lombardi Trophy. So far, we’ve seen way too many penalties on this team, as has the worst mark in the NFL in that category. Aside from cleaning up and becoming more discipline, getting Marshawn Lynch more touches and keeping up the explosive plays by him and Russell Wilson will be a recipe for success.
NWSB Editor Bryant Knox gives us his weekly analysis of Portland Trail Blazers head coach, Terry Stotts. This past week, the team went a perfect 5-0, taking down the Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets. Throughout the week, Stotts did a good job of letting his roster play its game. LaMarcus Aldridge, Damian Lillard, Nicolas Batum and Wesley Matthews are all allowed to take quick shots, and they take full advantage. Unfortunately, the coach is falling into the trap of playing his starters too many minutes.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson recaps Portland’s win over Brooklyn last night — their seventh in a row — and talks about three players who really set the tone for the victory and earned ‘game balls’. Wesley Matthews has been on fire this season, LaMarcus Aldridge has been everything he has needed to be, and Mo Williams is asserting himself off the bench. It’s going to be a fun year.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Portland’s seventh consecutive victory, the win in Brooklyn yesterday, and some things to love and hate from the game. Sitting atop the Northwest Division of the Western Conference, who could have expected the Blazers to be flying this high so early on in the season? The impact of Wesley Matthews has been huge and Portland is clearly making an early statement to the league.
NWSB Editor Bryant Knox brings up his weekly video recap of the Portland Trail Blazers. In Week 3, the team from the Pacific Northwest went 4-0, taking down the Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors. Standout performers were LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Batum, Damian Lillard and Mo Williams.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks’ blogger Brett Bivens once again brings you Monday Morning Quarterback! Breaking down yesterday’s Vikings vs. Hawks game. Brett points out it was more than fun to finally see Percy Harvin take the field for Seattle. Harvin returned that kick 58-yards which put the Seahawks in position to attack the field on offense, even with such little time remaining. Also Seeing Russell Okung, Breno Giacomini and Harvin on the field Sunday was a wonderful sight.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about the Seattle Seahawks’ blowout win over the Minnesota Vikings and hands out his game balls for the offensive, defensive, and special teams player of the game. While there are plenty of players who could earn each accolade, Russell Wilson, Walter Thurmond III, and Percy Harvin were clear game-changers on Sunday afternoon. Watch out, NFL, Seattle is just getting started.
NWSB Insider and Vancouver Canucks blogger Ben Lypka breaks down the Dallas Stars win over the Canucks on Sunday night. Ben calls out Coach Tortorella. The Sedins (Henrik Sedin & Daniel Sedin) and Ryan Kesler have dried up and there is literally no one there to pick up the slack. It’s not like a guy like Jeremy Welsh even got a chance…Alex Burrows has no goals in 10 games and a guy making $4.5 million. Chris Higgins is working out there but he’s just not producing.
