They drafted knowing that in order to beat the teams on their 2012 NFL schedule, they were going to have beef up their defense. The Seahawks chose DE/OLB Bruce Irvin out of West Virginia with their first round pick, #15 overall. They proceeded to stack their defense as well as grabbing 2 stud offensive players in RB Robert Turbin and QB Russell Wilson.

The Mariners catcher did manage to go 2-4 with a home run, but is still only hitting .196 on the season. The Blue Jays beat Seattle with offense, plain and simple. Brendan Ryan, stuck in an 0 for 18 slump, was replaced in the lineup by Munenori Kawasaki.
